It seems like forever since I have done a family session outdoors!! This has been one of the hardest winters in a long time. Rarely do we ever get snow more than once, and it has been freezing all of December and January. This family really wanted an outdoor session, and luckily for us on this day we had scheduled our session it was a mild winter day. I am a Tacoma newborn photographer and not a meteorologist so I was so happy that the weather had worked in our favor.
I always think of winter as a cold, dry and barren, but our location we chose had some stunning color, it almost felt like fall! There were actually beautifully colored leaves on the ground, and pretty foliage throughout the location. The pond also provided a scenic backdrop in many of the photos we took.
This family of three was absolutely adorable. Their little girl had such a beautiful spirit and some gorgeous hair. While her parents got ready she let me do a few warm up photos of her and she was so fun to work with! It is fortunate for me that I know a little bit about the movie Frozen, because that was her favorite movie as we talked about the characters throughout her photo session. As a Tacoma newborn photographer it is very helpful that I have young children so I can be up to date on all the latest things in kids worlds so that I can relate with them.
Did I mention we did this session in the dead of winter? You would never know if from the gorgeous golden glow we had in so many of our photos. The pictures of the little girl and her father with her dancing melt my heart. The light was perfect for those moments. What I love about being a full service Tacoma newborn photographer is that during a photo session with me I take advantage of the entire session to give you the most out of your time with me. We got a variety of photos of just the little girl, the entire family together, some one on ones with the little girl with mom or dad, and of course just some of mom and dad! Most of my clients, even me, don’t think about how important it is to get photos of just you and your significant other because our children are our entire worlds. When I’ve done family sessions and the photographer wanted just photos of my husband and I it never occurred to me how much those photos matter. My kids are my world but that is a world I have created with my partner and it’s important we capture that too!
